German Chancellor Olaf Scholz assured the Baltic states that Germany would protect them in the event of a military attack. He made this statement at a press conference in Tallinn after a meeting with the Prime Ministers of the Baltic States.
“We have taken the necessary measures, the German army is trained in such a way that it can protect Eastern Europe, because the defense of each ally is necessary for the security of the whole alliance and of the whole EU” , Scholz said.
On Friday, Scholz, Latvian Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins and Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Simonyte arrived in Tallinn for a visit.
Olaf Scholz previously announced his intention to discuss the situation in Ukraine with Russian President Vladimir Putin during a telephone conversation.
