Many remember Hranna – “I’m so lucky to have been able to call her my friend”

– Published on:

Many people remember Hranna Sigurðardóttir, Olympic fitness professional and owner of BeFit Iceland. She died aged just 44 after a difficult battle with a rare cancer.

Hränn came forward in an interview with DV in mid-June, where she described how late and misdiagnosed her illness was in the healthcare system in Iceland. Although her appearance was bleak according to doctors, Hränn did not give up her fight and traveled to Spain just over a week ago, where she underwent treatment for the rare cancer that tormented her.

Hranna’s husband Sæmundur Bæringssen announced her death yesterday and said she fought like a lion until the last moment because she was the only one.

Hränn leaves behind a husband and four children. She was friendly and those close to her describe her as a loving, strong, positive, ambitious and determined person.

Her friends and family remember her in beautiful posts on Hrannar’s Facebook page.

Kristín Sif Björgvinsdóttir, radio personality and friend of Hrannar:

“The strongest, most loving and amazing soul that I have the chance to call my friend.”

Musician Runar Eff Runarsson:

“Life is definitely not always fair.

Dear heart Hränn, I am going to write these words to you directly, and I believe that they will reach you where you are.

You will be sorely missed by so many. It has been admirable to watch you in this unfair fight that you certainly did not ask for. But you still fought with incredible diligence and courage until the last moment.

Although we haven’t had much contact in the past few years, I’ve always been very fond of you and our friendship, ever since we wrote and sang music together at the VMAs many years ago, I think even that my first original song was agreed with you. The first song I released (Crush) I sang with you. I will definitely listen to it today.

I am grateful to have met you and the incredible energy and zest for life that accompanies you, and extremely grateful to have grabbed our hug that day.

Dear family and friends of Hranna, I send you my deepest condolences at this difficult time. Keep the group together and take care of each other.”

Heiðrún Finnsdóttir, coach and influencer:

“Dear friend, I am so grateful to have known you and to experience the dark humor, laughter and joy that was always around you.

We will miss you very much. May all good blessings surround Sæma and the family.

See you later dear Hränn”

Photographer Mummi Lú posted a nice photo of Hränn:

Lóreley Sigurjónsdóttir, owner of Fitness Bils and Zumba instructor:

“My love.

You who were:

strongest of all

The most beautiful of all

The most effective of all

The most positive of all

Most useful of all

EVERYONE’S TRUST

I could write for a long time, the list is endless about you dear Hränn.

Thank you for everything and wonderful friendship over the years.

Your memory of a healthy and positive Hränn will live with us for a long time.

You were and are the best.”

Helga Þóra Bender, Hranna’s friend:

“My love, my love, my love, my lovely Hränn ♥️

I was speechless when I received this bad news and I still am.

No matter what mood I was in when I met you because you always managed to take care of me, it was positive so I always left you positive and with a smile on your face.

You are so beautiful and a good role model. What you had is hard to find, determination, drive, positivity, strength, if someone told you you couldn’t do something, you showed them that it just wasn’t right at all and you have done everything. hands and meant to show that some cancer would stop you at all and you showed it until the last minute.

Now you have arrived where all your suffering has been taken away and you can finally be yourself again, dear beautiful soul.

Your local chapter.”

Ásdís Inga Haraldsdóttir, trainer and manager of HealthIsNotASize:

“Dear Hränn cheerful, funny and hardworking.

I was very lucky to know you, nice to everything and everyone. He never failed.

Your memory lives forever, until next time.”
