On June 25, the rowing sports center hosted the Chinese Dragon Boat Festival. This event took place in Tatarstan for the first time and was attended by more than 15,000 people.
Among the guests of honor at the Chinese Sabantuy were the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Kazan, Mr Xiang Bo, the Consul General of Iran in Kazan, David Mirzakhani, the head of Rospotrebnadzor in Tatarstan, Marina Patyashina, the representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tatarstan, Radik Vakhitov, and directors of Tatarstan enterprises.
At the opening ceremony, the guests were welcomed by Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Tatarstan Oleg Korobchenko and Consul General of China in Kazan, Mr. Xiang Bo.
“Our traditional national holiday, Sabantuy, took place in Kazan yesterday. Everyone knows that this is the holiday of the plow, the holiday of people uniting after sowing, plowing – they can rest. And today ‘today we decided to have a small party – also Sabantuy, but in Chinese,” said Oleg Korobchenko, welcoming guests and participants.
He also added that there are a large number of Chinese students and enterprises in our republic, but few people know about the republic itself and its culture, and that is why, with Mr. Xiang Bo, they decided to organize this party.
“In Tatarstan, 2023 has been declared the Year of National Cultures and Traditions. Representatives of more than 170 nationalities, including those of the People’s Republic of China, live on the territory of the republic,” said Oleg Korobchenko.
“The most vivid impression of Tatarstan for me is that in this multinational region, all the different nationalities, ethnic groups have achieved excellent communication and integration. I think the Chinese Sabantuy is a good example, Xiang Bo said. The Dragon Boat Festival is an important part of Chinese culture and the common cultural heritage of all mankind.
The Chinese Dragon Boat Festival was held with the support of the Regional Public Organization “Rowing and Canoeing Federation of the Republic of Tatarstan”. The main partner of the party was the Hayer company.
Party guests were able to watch spectacular dragon boat races, participate in archery competitions, make a red lucky envelope and Chinese lanterns, learn Chinese and Chinese health practices, and even more.
20 teams of Tatarstan enterprises and organizations took part in the dragon boat competition. Accordingly, the best were:

76 students of the sports school of the Olympic reserve participated in the competition for the Cup of the Republic of Tatarstan in kayaking and canoeing. Accordingly, the best were:
1st place – Rodion Romanov 2nd place – Rustem Artykov 3rd place – Nikita Levin.
