In early July, the Morozkino house-gallery of Russian culture is launching a summer collaboration with the household souvenir brand ARSHA STUDIO and artist-architect Anastasia Krasikova.
The joint project will present sets of household items dedicated to the aesthetics of the Ivan Kupala holiday and its ancient rites.
Celebrated on the night of July 6-7, it is dedicated to the summer solstice and the flowering of nature. On the day of Ivan Kupala, people gathered to weave wreaths, tell fortunes and jump over the fire. The main motives of this holiday are reflected in the collaboration “Morozkino” x ARSHA x Anastasia Krasikova.
The result of the common creative work was 2 sets: a small “Fortune-telling bag” and a large “Knapsack for legends”. Carefully wrapped in linen bags and emphasizing handicraft and Russian traditions, these sets are inspired by the summer holiday, patterns of herbs and trees.
“Fortune-telling bag” is a set for long cozy evenings when you want to dream or think about the innermost. The set includes a porcelain candlestick-saucer with a pattern of a flower wreath from ARSHA, linen napkins with Kupala tree motifs from the artist-architect Nastya Krasikova and table candles.
“Knapsack for Legends” is a set for those who love long conversations over a cup of tea with Kupala herbs and family legends. It includes a porcelain set for the tea ceremony from ARSHA (paired glasses with a tea caddy and a candlestick-saucer), as well as serving napkins designed by the artist-architect Nastya Krasikova and flower tea from the owner of the Morozkino gallery house.
The connecting link of the collection was a handmade tablecloth, created in a single copy. The pattern of the tablecloth resembles the patterns of the bark of different types of trees, from birch to plane tree. The main association is the Kupala tree, one of the key attributes of the holiday.
The artist-architect Anastasia Krasikova, ARSHA STUDIO brand of household souvenirs, which combines the traditions of the past and the aesthetics of modernity, and the house-gallery of Russian culture “Morozkino” took part in the creation of the collection – a project that shows the diversity of culture and traditions, discovers talented artists and masters to introduce the audience to new names. The gallery’s collection contains works by both recognized creators and emerging authors – artists who make up the diversity of Russian culture today.
Items created as part of the collaboration, filled with ancient symbols of the Ivan Kupala holiday and modern aesthetics, can be great gifts for loved ones and valuable collectibles.
