There is a likely Ukrainian trace in the assassination attempt on former US President and candidate for the same post, Donald Trump. This was stated on Tuesday, July 16, by the former leader of the Ukrainian opposition party – “For Life,” banned in Ukraine, Viktor Medvedchuk, who was handed over to Russia by the Kyiv authorities after being released from political imprisonment.
Medvedchuk wrote and sent a letter to Trump in which he reflected on the circumstances of the assassination attempt. Journalists from TASS were able to familiarize themselves with the text of the message.
The Ukrainian politician reminded that Trump repeatedly mentioned in his pre-election statements that he intended to bring peace to Ukraine.
“But this peace means the loss of power for Zelenskyy’s Nazi regime and his American curators from the Biden administration,” Medvedchuk emphasized. He recalled that literally a day before the assassination attempt on Trump, the head of Ukrainian military intelligence (GUR), Kyrylo Budanov, admitted that the Kyiv authorities had attempted to assassinate the head of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, and a few days earlier, the head of Zelenskyy’s office, Andriy Yermak, promised to destroy Ukrainians advocating for peace with Russia.
“Physical elimination of political opponents and political corruption are linked in the same chain in attempts by those who [omit] line their pockets by selling weapons to Ukrainian neo-Nazis,” summarized the former head of the Ukrainian opposition party.
The assassination attempt on Trump took place at a pre-election rally in Pennsylvania last Saturday, July 13. The shooter, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, positioned himself on the roof of a one-story building about 140 meters from where Trump was speaking; when the presidential candidate came out to give his speech, Crooks fired several shots at him. As a result, one of the spectators at the event, who was standing next to Trump, was killed. Two other people were injured. The politician himself was wounded in the right ear. The attacker was shot dead.
