Quordle gives you nine guesses for four boards at once, which sounds generous and is not. You get four free swings at most, and today two of the four words hide behind letters that almost no opening word contains.

- Board two is the edge of something, or what you are on when you are about to do it.

The J and the V Are the Whole Problem
MAJOR carries a J and VERGE carries a V, and neither letter appears in any of the standard opening words. RAISE, SLATE, CRANE, ADIEU and STARE contain no J and no V between them.
That means two of today’s four boards will sit at one or two confirmed letters while the other two are solved, and you will be spending guesses on letters rather than words. The efficient play is to accept it early: once you have CRUSH and SCOFF, do not guess at MAJOR from M_ _ _R. Play a word that tests J and V together and buy the information.
SCOFF has the other trap, the doubled F at the end. Quordle marks a doubled letter the same way Wordle does, and solvers holding S, C, O and one F will regularly try SCOUR or SCORE before they think to double.
Where the Nine Guesses Go
The common mistake on a board like this is to solve greedily. A solver who locks CRUSH on guess three and immediately chases VERGE has usually burned two more guesses on V-less words without meaning to.
CRUSH and SCOFF share the C and the S and both are consonant-heavy, so they tend to fall together. MAJOR and VERGE both hold an E or an O in a position most openers do not test. Treat them as one problem rather than two and you will finish inside the nine.
What we cannot tell you is the board order you will see. Quordle’s four grids are fixed for everyone on a given day, but which of your guesses lands on which board depends entirely on what you type, so the numbering above is ours for convenience rather than the game’s.
