One word does most of the damage. SNICKERDOODLE is thirteen letters long, which is more than a quarter of the forty-eight squares on the board, and until you find it the grid will not come apart.

The spangram is COOKIEJAR, nine letters, running horizontally across the board. It names where the cookies are kept rather than any cookie itself, which is why it does not look like a theme word while you are hunting.

Those six use every square exactly once: nine letters for the spangram, plus eight, four, thirteen, eight and six, which comes to forty-eight. If your board has leftovers, one of your words is wrong.
Why Four of the Five Start With S
SNAP, SNICKERDOODLE, SNOWBALL and SPRITZ all open on the same letter, and that is the most useful thing to know before you start dragging. Once you have found any one of them, sweep the grid for other S starts before you try anything else.
MACAROON is the exception, and it is also the word most solvers find first, because it is unambiguously a cookie. That is the puzzle’s small cruelty. The entry that confirms the theme is the one that teaches you nothing about the pattern underneath it.
Where Puzzle #904 Goes Wrong
On the everyday words. SNAP is a sound, SNOWBALL is a thing children throw, and SPRITZ is what you do with a bottle. All three are cookies here, and none of them looks like one in a grid of loose letters.
SPRITZ is the one worth naming. It is a pressed butter cookie, common in Scandinavian and German baking and much less familiar in Britain and India, and a solver who does not know it as a cookie will read those six letters and move past them.
What we cannot tell you is the grid layout itself. Strands boards are generated per player session in their display, and the letter positions are not something we can publish reliably, so the words are the answer and the path is yours to trace.
