LANAI, Hawaii – Tobey Maguire stood at the ceremony rather than simply among the guests when his former wife, jewelry designer Jennifer Meyer, married music executive Geoffrey Ogunlesi, giving their longstanding friendship a prominent role in her wedding.
Meyer and Ogunlesi married at the Four Seasons Resort Lanai on Saturday, October 10, according to photographs and reporting published by People. The Spider-Man actor officiated, with the occasion drawing a guest list that included Leonardo DiCaprio, Courteney Cox and Jeff Bezos.
Maguire’s role was also noted in Fox News Radio’s October 11 entertainment briefing. Neither that brief nor the photographs establish what he said during the ceremony, and no officiating remarks are quoted here.
The wedding came shortly after the former couple’s divorce was finalized on September 21, People reported. That date is attributed to the outlet; The Eastern Herald has not independently reviewed the court order or its terms. Their separation, however, had been public for a decade, making the recent legal development different from a recent breakup.
Maguire and Meyer married in 2007 and announced their separation in October 2016. At the time, a representative confirmed the separation to ABC News. Their joint statement placed their two children and continued friendship at the center of the decision.
“As devoted parents, our first priority remains raising our children together with enduring love, respect and friendship,” they said. The language provides an on-the-record starting point for the relationship they described after separating, rather than requiring a wedding photograph to explain their private feelings.
Meyer later spoke directly about how Maguire and Ogunlesi fit into the same family. In a May interview quoted in People’s wedding report, she said, “We travel all together. We have every holiday together. We have every birthday all together.”
She also called Maguire an incredible father and ex-husband, adding that Ogunlesi and Maguire love one another. Those comments predate the ceremony and explain why his visible participation was consistent with the family arrangement she had already described publicly. The guest list reflected those connections. DiCaprio attended with Vittoria Ceretti, while Bezos was accompanied by Lauren Sánchez Bezos.
