Hilary Swank has turned a family dance into a pregnancy announcement. The 52-year-old actress revealed Wednesday that she is expecting her third child with husband Philip Schneider, sharing a video in which their three-year-old twins join them as glowing stick figures.
The reveal comes when a small glow-stick baby appears outlined on Swank’s belly. Her caption treats the family’s next arrival like a screen project: “A lot of people have been asking what project I’m doing next, this one releases in December.”
ABC News reported that the caption appeared to hint at her due date. Swank did not give an exact date in the announcement quoted by the outlet.
The couple’s twins, Aya and Ohm, were born in April 2023. Their participation makes the announcement a family portrait as well as a reveal: four figures dancing in darkness, with a fifth represented before the baby’s arrival. The video is set to Bachman-Turner Overdrive’s “You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet,” Entertainment Weekly reported.
Swank and Schneider married in August 2018. By the time she announced her first pregnancy on Good Morning America in October 2022, the actress had already built a film career that included best actress Oscars for Boys Don’t Cry and Million Dollar Baby.
Her first announcement came while she was promoting Alaska Daily. “This is something that I’ve been wanting for a long time,” she said then, before revealing she was expecting not one baby but two.
Since welcoming the twins, Swank has spoken about how becoming a parent changed both her daily life and the way she approaches work. She has described motherhood as more joyful and more exhausting than she anticipated, while also saying that an established career gives her greater control over her time.
The Hollywood Reporter cited her comments about having children later in life: “In my career being so established, I have the ability to kind of step in and step out when I choose, and that is just such a blessing.”
Her television work is continuing alongside those family changes. The outlet reported that she will next appear in the fourth and final season of Yellowjackets, premiering November 20. The December arrival teased in her Instagram caption, however, refers to a new family member rather than another screen role.
