Kaley Cuoco and Tom Pelphrey have welcomed their second daughter, Philomena Carmine Bobby Pelphrey, making their three-year-old daughter Matilda a big sister. The baby was born October 12, the couple revealed in separate Instagram announcements Wednesday.
“Family officially complete,” Cuoco wrote alongside photographs of the newborn, whom she called “our little Philo.” The actress described the path to her daughter’s arrival as a “crazy wild up and down journey,” without detailing what that involved.
NBC’s TODAY report distinguished the birth date from the announcement: Philomena arrived Monday, October 12, and the couple shared the news October 14. Their posts introduced her by her full name and showed the family preparing to bring her home.
Cuoco also shared a photograph of Matilda wearing a yellow “big sister” shirt. “Someone waiting at home for us!” she wrote over the picture. In her birth announcement, she joked that it was time to bring “Matilda’s baby” home.
For the television actress, the announcement was also a tribute to her fiancé. She told Pelphrey that life had changed from the moment they met and called him “girl daddy,” now the father of two daughters.
Pelphrey posted his own photographs and called Philomena “another miracle.” “Welcome to our family youngest queen!” he wrote, before praising Cuoco for showing up as both a partner and a mother even when she had not been feeling her best.
The name Carmine connects the sisters to their maternal grandfather. It is Cuoco’s father Gary’s middle name and also appears in Matilda’s full name, Matilda Carmine Richie Pelphrey, TODAY reported. The couple did not explain the other names in the announcements quoted by the outlet.
Cuoco and Pelphrey began dating in May 2022, welcomed Matilda in March 2023 and became engaged in August 2024, Entertainment Weekly reported. They announced the second pregnancy in June.
The birth follows a public family tribute at September’s Emmy Awards. Pelphrey, who stars in the drama series Task, thanked Cuoco during his supporting actor acceptance speech and addressed both Matilda and the daughter they were expecting.
His latest message returned to the same subject, this time with Philomena already here: “Thank God for the gift of this family and these girls.”
