Saturday’s Week 10 slate carried seven College Football Playoff-ranked matchups, and at least three of them produced results that will be hard for the committee to ignore.
The College Football Playoff described the day as two top-10 matchups and five more ranked games. The biggest result came in South Bend, where No. 11 Notre Dame beat No. 1 Miami 31-24, according to NCAA.com. The Athletic reported that the game gave Miami its first loss of the season. It came days after the committee’s opening rankings placed Miami first and Notre Dame 11th.
Georgia made the loudest statement of the day, according to CBS Sports. The No. 2 Bulldogs beat No. 10 Ole Miss 42-7.
In the Holy War that opened the day, No. 3 Utah beat No. 9 BYU 28-20, its first win over the Cougars since 2019, Fox Sports reported. BYU had been the team that beat Notre Dame earlier this season.

ESPN’s own assessment of the day was that there were plenty of top-ranked matchups, but the results did not solidify anything. How the committee will reorder its rankings is the question the reports reviewed cannot yet answer.
