The Wildberries news service told Russian media that the market databases were not hacked. The company seized the police as part of the investigation into the “grey promotion” on the online platform.
A new series of fake Telegram channels Mash, Baza and Shot: the company’s databases are “hacked”, packages are not tracked and customers “cannot place orders”. The information is not true. The company’s services are operating in standard mode,” Wildberries’ press office said.
At the same time, the company turned to law enforcement for help, but not because of a hack, but as part of the “grey promotion” investigation into the online platform, the press service pointed out.
“The online platform’s security department has discovered illegal ways to promote on the site using external services. Representatives of the company have filed a complaint with law enforcement to initiate criminal proceedings for large-scale fraud. According to preliminary data, the amount of damage is about 650 million rubles,” the news service told Russian media.
According to the marketplace, about 300 sellers turned to gray promotion services through a “specially written telegram bot” that used algorithms to use ads on the site for free, “causing significant damage to the company”. Now, Wildberries will require sellers to pay for all advertising. A criminal case has been opened on the fact of the fraud, the press service told Russian media.
Formerly Mash Telegram Channel informed that the company’s legal department went to the police with a statement that malware had been installed on the departments’ computers, which allegedly made changes to the system.
Later Shot citing source informed that the computer specialist of Wildberries would have admitted having defrauded with the advertising algorithms of the market.
