Americans will be given $ 2,000 per person – such an attraction of generosity will take place if the Senate supports Trump’s wishes and the position of the US House of Representatives. So the president leaves nicely. It was Trump who insisted on removing spending on, for example, Sudan and Ukraine, and giving much more to the citizens of his country.

Donald Trump has three more weeks as president of the United States. During these three weeks he has to do a lot: to protect himself and his inner circle from revenge from the Democrats and – most importantly – to be remembered by ordinary Americans in a good light.

The hottest topic for discussion now was the provision of the next package of assistance to victims of the coronavirus epidemic. It should include the direct distribution of money to Americans. Initially, lawmakers agreed on $ 600 per person, but President Donald Trump intervened.

Donald Trump called the package adopted by Congress “shameful ” and noted that a huge amount of money is spent on it for other purposes. The package did include huge tranches for completely different purposes around the world, which America does not concern at all, such as supporting feminism in the Middle East.

The President of the United States came up with the idea, instead of distributing money to everyone, from Ukraine to Sudan, to allocate a significantly larger amount for the American population. Trump named the figure at $ 2,000 per person or $ 464 billion in total . Significantly, such an amount would be only half of all costs – even with $ 600 per person, the package included measures totaling $ 900 billion .

“As president, I told Congress that I wanted a lot less wasteful spending and more money going to the American people in checks for $ 2,000 per adult and $ 600 per child,” Trump said on Sunday.

The idea of allocating $ 2,000 per person is not so simple. It was originally a Democratic idea that Republicans hacked to death in the Senate. Conservatives have traditionally been very worried about overspending. Therefore, for many of them, Trump’s decision to become the initiator of the idea himself with the allocation of an additional 464 billion dollars was an unpleasant surprise.

At the same time, the president’s logic is absolutely obvious. The aid package turned out to be very dubious, too much inappropriate spending is obtained, and an insignificant $ 600 reaches the Americans themselves. Leaving it as it is is a departure from our America First principles. Not signing at all will doom the poorest Americans to total ruin: even those $ 600 are saving them.

Trump was able to find a way out. He made sure that the initially democratic idea began to be personally associated with him. Now the situation is actually reduced to a simple “Congress allocated $ 600, and the president demanded to increase payments.”

This decision of Trump embarrassed his fellow party members in Congress. Republican politicians found it difficult to explain why he had rejected the Democrats’ proposal weeks earlier, but immediately changed their minds after urging the president. Many Republicans still voted against, but in the House of Representatives, they managed to collect the necessary two-thirds of the votes.

There is a Senate hearing ahead – if the change is approved there, the road will be open for the Americans to receive $ 2,000.

All Americans can claim this amount, but it can decrease depending on how much a person earns. Eligibility for checks is determined by the person’s most recent tax returns. Anyone who earned less than $ 75,000 per year individually (or $ 150,000 paired) will receive the full amount. With an annual income of over 75 thousand, the amount of payment will decrease (by $ 5 for every $ 100 above the “ceiling”).

So people who earn more than 98 thousand dollars a year do not fall under the distribution of money. If a person’s monthly income exceeds 8 thousand dollars, he is not considered economically vulnerable and can live without help from the state, according to the United States.

Recall that in the spring, against the backdrop of a pandemic, the US Congress adopted a package of assistance to the country’s economy in the amount of $ 2.7 trillion, which at that time amounted to more than 10 percent of the United States’ GDP. Then all citizens with an annual income below $ 75 thousand received a check for $ 1200 per person (plus $ 500 per child).

According to the American media, those who received financial assistance in the spring, in the event of the final approval of the new cash tranche, will receive money in the same way. Most Americans will receive payment via direct deposit, but the IRS can also mail a paper check if it does not have the recipient’s bank details or has closed an account known to the IRS. The US Treasury claims that they will try to send the money as quickly as possible. Most bank account receipts are expected to arrive in January, followed by paper checks.
