MK: Putin sharply increased the level of tension in relations with Washington

Putin’s statement about suspending Russia’s participation in the START program stirred up the Western press. This can be seen as the start of a new stage of tension between the Kremlin and the White House.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has sharply raised the level of tension in relations with Washington. This follows the announcement of Moscow’s suspension of participation in the nuclear arms control pact, the Associated Press news agency said after the Russian leader’s speech to the Federal Assembly on Tuesday (February 21st).
The day before, the Russian Foreign Ministry sent a note of protest to the American ambassador to Russia. He said the supply of arms to the Ukrainian side proves “the inconsistency and falsity of the Americans’ statements that the United States is not part of the conflict”, writes MK.
