In Gomel, near the Sekret shopping center, police arrested 200 people at a meeting of supporters of the informal teenage subculture PMC Redan. On this subject informed Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus.
Police said officers “responded quickly to an attempt to stage an illegal mass event”. The Interior Ministry claims that the detentions were carried out without the use of force.
A total of 200 people were detained, including 183 minors.
“Adolescents under 16 will receive warnings with registration for the youth inspectorate. Persons over the age of 16 face additional administrative responsibility,” the agency said in a statement.
“PMC Redan” is the name of a teenage subculture inspired by the Japanese manga Hunter x Hunter, which features the criminal group “Genei Redan”. Teenagers who identify with this subculture mostly wear black clothing and use the symbol of a twelve-legged spider. Supporters of the movement said the abbreviation “PMC” was used as a joke.
RIA Novosti, citing a law enforcement source, reported that on February 24-25, more than 350 people were taken to the Moscow police department, which security forces associate with PMC Redan. According to the agency, 319 detainees are minors. Gas cartridges, knives and airsoft guns were confiscated from some of them. Two days earlier, telegram channels had reported that a massive fight of teenagers had taken place in the Aviapark shopping center in Moscow, the cause of which was that one company did not like the way the other was dressed.
Fontanka wrote that in the “Gallery” shopping center in St. Petersburg, a teenager dressed in black, who may be a follower of PMC Redan, was attacked by a group of young people. A criminal case for hooliganism has been initiated, a 17-year-old boy has been arrested.
After mass fights involving suspected supporters of PMC Redan, teenagers were detained in shopping malls in Novosibirsk, Rostov-on-Don, Kazan, and other cities.
