Russian environmentalists urged to ditch paper receipts for housing and communal services in favor of electronic receipts

| Stepan YatskoThe Russian Environmental Operator (REO) has called for a gradual move away from paper receipts for housing and communal services in favor of electronic receipts.The corresponding letter was sent by the Director General of REO Denis Butsaev to the Ministry of Construction of the Russian Federation. The document notes that every month, 50 tons of paper are spent sending out receipts, which are ultimately simply thrown away.Additionally, for management organizations, printing payment documents has become more expensive due to rising paper prices. However, according to Butsaev, paper payments should still be kept for certain categories of Russians, for example pensioners, because they are not very computer savvy, they write. “News” .REO previously calculated how many household appliances Russians throw away each year.
