On the eve of the flood in the regional capital, the number of storm sewer cleaning brigades was increased. Vologda Mayor Sergei Voropanov announced on a live broadcast that six brigades daily monitor stormwater inflows. Specialists work on more than 10 addresses per day – this ranges from 500 meters to 1 kilometer of storm sewers.
“All the most problematic places are known to specialists, and they are the first to bypass them,” said Sergey Voropanov.
The city’s Civil Protection Center will monitor the condition of small rivers and the Vologda River. After the snow begins to melt, experts will clean riverbeds of debris to prevent flooding of coastal areas. From March 10, they will cut and blacken the ice on Vologda and Toshna.
