The co-author, Chairman of the Duma Committee on Financial Markets, Anatoly Aksakov, believes that the digital ruble will be launched in Russia in April.
“I think that in the first quarter the laws will finally be adopted, from April the digital ruble in the pilot version will be developed with a gradual increase in the number of participants,” he said in an interview with the parliamentary newspaper.
The digital ruble will be an additional form of the Russian national currency, which combines the properties of cash and non-cash rubles. The Bank of Russia will issue and distribute it gradually.
According to the deputy, there will be no immediate availability of the currency, but after the tests the digital ruble can be used for mutual payments and settlements.
A new type of national currency can be inherited, and in the future used in international payments.
