Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Estonian authorities intend to block access to Russian TV channels on the Internet

| Stepan YatskoThe Estonian authorities intend to block citizens’ access to Russian television channels on the Internet. This initiative was taken by the country’s Department of Consumer Rights Protection and Technical Supervision.

According to the latest data, 40% of Estonians continue to watch Russian TV on the web. This is what the representative of the department Helen Rohtlu declared on the airwaves of ERR.

“At the moment, we are working to block those TV channels available through the Internet. In other words, those sites or apps that we consider problematic,” she explained.

A total of 50 TV channels cannot be broadcast in Estonia today for various reasons. Another 80 sites were denied access due to anti-Russian sanctions.
