Washington: Ajay Banga, nominated by the US for of President of the World Bank, has been found infected with the Corona virus in Delhi. The US Finance Department has given this information. Banga is in the capital of India on the last leg of his tour to different countries of the world. He is in isolation after being found infected. There has been an increase in the cases of influenza and corona virus in India during the last two weeks. According to data released on Wednesday by India’s Union Health Ministry, 1,134 new cases of corona virus infection have been reported in the country and the number of patients under treatment has increased to 7,026.
Banga’s visit to New Delhi (March 23 and 24) is the last leg of his world tour. He started his journey from Africa after which he reached Asia via Europe, Latin America. US Treasury Department said, Ajay Banga has been found infected with Corona virus during routine investigation but he has no symptoms of the disease. He is in isolation following local guidelines. Earlier, the Finance Department had said in a statement that during the visit to India, 63-year-old Banga was to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well as Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.
