Egypt.. A muezzin was slaughtered in the mosque after the Tarawih prayer, and the perpetrator’s shocking confessions

The Wardian area, west of Alexandria, in Egypt, witnessed a horrific murder, as a thug slaughtered a volunteer muezzin in front of the Muhammad Hassan Mosque after the Tarawih prayer, because the victim prevented the father of the perpetrator from raising the call to prayer.

In the details, the Alexandria Security Director received a notification from the sheriff of the Mina Al-Basal Police Department stating that a report had been received about the killing of a volunteer muezzin in a mosque affiliated with the department.

Shocking confessions

The perpetrator was arrested and confessed to the incident, and admitted that he was accompanied by his brother, and committed the crime after hearing their father’s complaint from the victim’s muezzin who refused to raise the Maghrib call to prayer, the second day of Ramadan, and also refused to raise the evening call to prayer, which made their father leave the mosque before the Tarawih prayer. And he went to them to complain about the mosque muezzin, and immediately they brought a sharp instrument and went to the victim, and during the quarrel he killed him on the spot, according to "Egyptian media".

Eyewitnesses said that Sheikh Hassan Al-Koumi used to call the call to prayer in this corner and was loved by everyone. During the Maghrib prayer, he refused the request of the perpetrator’s father to call the call to prayer, and at dinner, all worshipers, not only Sheikh Hassan, refused the request of the perpetrator’s father.

A source from the Endowments Directorate in Alexandria Governorate confirmed that the victim is not a muezzin accredited by the Endowments and is not affiliated with the Directorate, but he is a family member who used to call people to prayer and lead them in some prayers.
