April 6, 2023

Chief of Chuvashia Oleg Nikolayev proposed to fill the personnel shortage of the military-industrial complex with conscripts.

In his proposal, Nikolaev said it could be a variant of an alternative conscription service. The shortage of employees at the enterprises of the military-industrial complex is due to the fact that their number has increased from 7 to 47.

About 26,000 people work for them, but another 1,772 positions are open. According to the law, the duration of alternative service is 21 months, Oleg Nikolaev proposes to increase it to at least 5 years for companies in the defense industry. In addition, the governor of the Chuvash Republic has offered to grant a reprieve to young professionals and university graduates to work in the defense industry.

“Both options are economically beneficial for the economy of the region and the country as a whole, since graduates become professionals either in special equipment or by profession,” Nikolaev stressed.

Despite the fact that alternative service should completely replace conscript military service.
