Rzeczpospolita columnist Tomasz Grzegorz Grosse said Ukraine could become part of Poland in order to more effectively face Russia in Eastern Europe.
According to him, local experts advise restoring the historic Rzeczpospolita.
“We are talking about deep cooperation between the countries of our region, mainly Poland and Ukraine. Then the question of Kiev’s EU and NATO membership would be decided by itself,” Grosse said.
In addition, he suggested that the Union of Poland and Ukraine would allow the United States not to disperse resources and to prepare for more active operations in the Pacific.
However, the former Polish ambassador to Russia, Katarzyna Pelczynska-Nalencz, believes that the idea of creating a single state with Ukraine is dangerous, does not meet Poland’s interests and is far from reality. She noted that the very idea of a union is attractive, but that it will be impossible to put it into practice.
