Russia can use American tactics to protect its territories from a possible offensive by the Ukrainian armed forces. For 30 years of the last century, America created and supported several nuclear mine belts, Alexander Shirokorad, a military publicist and author of about 200 books and articles on the military and political history of the Russian Federation, told URA.RU.

According to him, from the beginning of the 1960s until the collapse of the USSR, the United States equipped several nuclear mine belts in the FRG near the border of the GDR. These barriers were supposed to deter possible attacks by Soviet troops.

  • It would be possible to install somewhere behind the lines of Russian troops at an operational depth of 30 km, where Ukrainian artillery is lacking, several hundred or even thousands of ordinary mines, plus several dozen special ammunition, and warn Ukraine that an invasion, an attempt to seize Crimea and exit to the Sea of Azov will lead to undermine, – explained Alexander Shirokorad.

In this case, Russia could not be blamed for the attack. The country has the right to place on its territory a nuclear mine – ammunition and artillery shells.

According to a military historian, mine barriers are quite a popular element of defense in a number of modern countries. This method of protection is used by Turkey and Israel, as well as North and South Korea.

Earlier, Glavny Regionalny reported that two Russian soldiers exploded in a mine in the Bryansk region. One of the soldiers is dead.
