Mr. Youssef Khalifa Al-Sada, President of the Qatar Society for Fine Arts, confirmed that the society’s strategy during the coming period will focus on activities and events that promote cultural mobility in society.
In a special statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) on the occasion of his re-election as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Qatar Society for Fine Arts, Youssef Al-Sada said that the new Board of Directors of the Society consists of the artist Youssef Khalifa Al-Sada, Chairman of the Board of Directors, the artist Nawal Saeed Al-Kuwari, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors, and the artist Sheikha Hamda Al Thani, the Secretary of the Board of Directors, the artist Hassan Abdullah Al-Haddad, the treasurer, and the membership of the artist Moudhi Hamad Al-Hajri, the artist Fatima Rashid Al-Mannai, and the artist Al-Anoud Abdullah Al-Kuwari, and it will continue until the year 2026, to reflect the desire of the General Assembly, whose members are about 300 artists of citizens and residents, in promoting the plastic arts in Qatar, and developing the skills of the members, especially the youth.
He explained that the new council will work to enhance the artistic activities of the association, pointing out that the association’s management intends to launch a new strategy that includes holding new art exhibitions, in addition to fixed annual exhibitions, such as the summer exhibition, which will be added to the association’s agenda this year, to be annual, and it will be held in the month of Ramadan. Next May and will continue until July 2023, and it is open to members of the association, pointing out at the same time that participation is available to all with specifying some conditions such as the sizes of the works submitted, which will be for all exhibitions, and that the works are complete artistic direction and technically integrated, with participation available to all art schools.
He pointed out that among the most important annual static exhibitions are the Qatari Artists Exhibition and the Elite Exhibition. It is dedicated to the works of pioneers and the generation that follows them, with the participation of some young people who are keen to develop their artistic experiences. / from Qatar / and others.
The President of the Qatar Society for Fine Arts, who is also the President of the Federation of Gulf Fine Arts Associations, explained that among the activities that the Society maintains within its new strategy is to enhance artistic taste by holding educational seminars concerned with art criticism from both theoretical and practical sides, in addition to workshops for artists from around the world. The pioneers in Qatar and the Arab and foreign countries, stressing the association’s interest in the presence of the Qatari artist in various international forums, starting with the cultural activities organized by the Cooperation Council for the Arab Gulf States, especially the sculpture exhibition for Gulf artists. The association is also interested in the international presence of the Qatari artist, Arab or foreign, as the association participated in There are many Arab events, and there is an effort to organize exhibitions in Arab countries, as well as in Europe, and participation in them is available to all Qatari artists in a sequential manner, so that each external participation is available to a different group of artists.
He also noted the association’s interest in organizing its annual award on “realistic art”, where a week-long workshop will be held to compete in presenting works related to the Qatari environment, and then the winners will be crowned and an exhibition of outstanding participating works will be held this year.
Artist Youssef Al-Sada, President of the Qatar Society for Fine Arts, confirmed the Society’s keenness to attract new artists to the Society’s membership, as the nomination of those wishing to join the Society’s membership will be announced soon, pointing to the formation of a committee of the Board of Directors that will evaluate applicants by reviewing samples of their business.
And he stressed that the doors of the association are open to all citizens and residents, as long as the applicant fulfills the conditions as an artist, stressing the interest of the association during its new strategy to communicate with the educational institutions of the state, especially the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, where "We seek to attract those with technical skills, especially in the secondary stage, who are at the gates of the legal age, so the creators of them are granted honorary membership until they reach the legal age of 18 years, and then join the association".
Al-Sada explained that the association gives its members the privilege of participating in annual exhibitions as well as workshops and competitions, as well as nomination to participate in external exhibitions in which the association participates.
On the role of the Qatari plastic artist in enhancing the richness of the artistic experience in Doha, especially after the impressive success during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and presenting works of art in various places that made Qatar a museum open to visitors, he said that the Qatari artist worked hard to present beautiful works and ideas and there are wonderful models I introduced the world to backward aspects of culture and art in Qatar, but after the end of the World Cup, everyone needs continuity because the development in Qatar continues and needs to keep pace with it at various levels, including technical aspects.
He noted that what is presented in Qatar from various parties has made Qatar a truly open museum, as works of art are everywhere, whether in Doha or other cities, expressing his hope to strengthen cooperation between the Qatar Society for Fine Arts and the concerned authorities to beautify Doha, such as Qatar Museums and the Public Works Authority. Ashghal and the Ministry of Municipality, and giving the Qatari artist a greater opportunity to contribute in this aspect and learn about their various projects, as the creativity of Qatari artists appeared in various fields before the World Cup because everyone is keen to show the bright image in the State of Qatar.
Artist Youssef Al-Sada revealed that, on the artistic level, he is currently striving to hold a personal exhibition, where he moves with his new works from the realistic school that dominated him for years to the surrealist school and modern art. He concluded his speech to QNA by confirming the existence of coordination and cooperation between the Qatar Society for Fine Arts and various state agencies, especially the General Foundation for the Cultural Village (Katara), calling on Qatari businessmen to support fine art in Qatar by establishing new galleries that support the arts. It is worth noting that Mr. Youssef Al-Sada is a Qatari artist, born in 1970. He has presented many art exhibitions in Qatar and a number of Arab and foreign countries. He has chaired the Qatar Fine Arts Society since 2013.
