On April 8, the All-Russian Action “Total Dictation” took place. Everyone could check their level of literacy by writing a text by Vasily Avchenko, dedicated to the writer, local historian Vladimir Arseniev.

According to the philologists who checked the works in Novosibirsk (in the homeland of “Total Dictation” – Note), most often the participants in the action encountered difficulties in writing the words “since childhood” and “cardinal “. The first, according to the results of the check, revealed up to nine spelling variants – some wrote this word separately – “since childhood”, others – with “o” at the end, and even at through a hard sign of separation. Another point that surprised philologists is the spelling of the word “philosophical” through “in” – “philosophical”.
