April 10, 2023

Turkey is preparing to launch its first İMECE observation satellite into orbit. As Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on his Twitter account, thanks to trained specialists, resources and technological development, Turkey continues its participation in the global space race.

SpaceX will launch the satellite at 9:50 a.m. Turkish time on April 11. In addition to İMECE, the US rocket will launch three other satellites developed by Turkish space companies: AKUP, KILIÇSAT and CONNECTA T2.1 into orbit, Anadolu reported.

This is an important achievement for Turkey as it is the first launch of its own satellite and a sign that the country can become a serious player in the space industry.
