Smolensk police solved the case of the theft of a bicycle at the entrance to a residential building

In Smolensk, the police solved the case of the theft of a bicycle worth 17,000 rubles at the entrance to an apartment building.

According to information from the press service of the department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Smolensk region, a local resident born in 1978 approached law enforcement agencies with a statement about the theft. According to the victim, he left the vehicle on the landing of the first floor of the house, securing it with a cable lock. The next day, the victim discovers that the bike has been stolen.

Detectives arrived at the indicated address, interviewed possible witnesses, and also studied the recordings of CCTV cameras. As a result of operational search activities, officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs managed to establish the involvement in the crime of an unemployed, previously convicted resident of Smolensk, born in 1984. The detainee explained to the police that he wanted to sell the stolen bike, but hadn’t had time to do so.

Currently, the suspect faces 5 years in prison under the article of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Theft”. In addition, the accused’s involvement in similar crimes is established.
