Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Hamad International Airport is developing its technology portfolio to enhance the passenger experience and achieve operational excellence

Hamad International Airport strives to meet and exceed the expectations of its travelers around the world, and the airport itself has become a distinct destination for diverse modern lifestyles. In this context, Dell Technologies, listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol: (DELL), announced today that Hamad International Airport has selected its advanced network infrastructure solutions and advanced servers, to enhance the passenger experience and achieve operational excellence, as part of the second phase of its expansion plan.

The international airport, which currently serves more than 170 global destinations and more than 40 partner airlines, has chosen to rely on Dell PowerEdge servers to ensure its infrastructure is enhanced, efficiencies and costs are optimized to benefit millions of passengers.

Designed for exceptional performance, PowerEdge servers are the cornerstone of future workloads. These servers support compute units and networks that can be customized to airport needs and scaled over time when needed.

Hamad International Airport recorded an increase of 101.9% year-on-year in passenger traffic and a growth of 28.2% in total aircraft movement in 2022, on the back of Qatar receiving football fans coming to attend the World Cup from all over the world. Building on this momentum, the second phase (B) of the airport expansion project began in January 2023, and includes the construction of two new lanes within the passenger terminal, which will increase the airport’s capacity to more than 70 million passengers annually.

The implementation of Dell solutions provides further support for the airport’s ambitious plans, and provides new ways to expand and enhance its data center to ensure that it is able to run the most complex and critical workloads, while maintaining the highest levels of flexibility necessary to meet the needs of future growth. PowerEdge servers are designed to interact with workloads securely and to be highly predictive of potential threats, feature a security architecture validated by coding approach, and provide easy systems management to monitor, deploy, and automate routine airport operations.

In a related context, Travers Nicholas, General Manager of Dell Technologies Qatar, said: "Hamad International Airport plays a vital role in facilitating the flow of global trade, raising industry standards and offering the utmost comfort to passengers. As the air travel industry continues to grow, and the demand for enhanced travel experiences increases, the importance of a strong and flexible digital infrastructure that can support this significant growth. Dell Technologies is committed to helping Hamad International Airport achieve its vision of growth, and we look forward to seeing the airport rise to new heights in the near future, given that it is a significant player in the global aviation sector.".
