Arctic animal sanctuaries may receive grants

In the Murmansk region, new rules have been approved for granting grants to non-profit organizations that are animal shelters. Read more in the material “The Eastern Herald in Murmansk”.

Thus, according to the press service of the regional committee of veterinary medicine, these organizations will receive compensation for the payment of the services they have received in heating, electricity, water and sanitation. These grants will be allocated from funds of the regional budget in the amount of 1,948,821 rubles.

However, organizations that perform animal care activities in shelters must first be screened for nonprofit organizations.

These organizations must own or otherwise legally own an animal sanctuary, which is located in the Kola Arctic Territory and meets certain requirements.

Also, the list of requirements included the implementation by the organization in 2022 in the region of activities in the field of animal care, including pets without owners.

More detailed information on the “announcement” on the procedure for selecting grant recipients, application requirements and required documents will be available on the official website of the relevant department from April 20 this year. It will be located in the “Lines of activity” section of the “State support to NGOs” sub-section.

The Veterinary Committee of the Murmansk region warns that the application with the documents should be submitted from 9:00 a.m. on April 21, 2023 to 5:00 p.m. on May 19, 2023 by mail or in person at the address: 183025, Murmansk, st. Karla Marksa, 25a, room 512 on working days from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (lunch from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.).
