Russian Ambassador Antonov commented on new US sanctions against Rosatom and Yunarmiya

Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov said new US sanctions against Russia would not affect Moscow’s approaches, but would damage the White House’s reputation.

He explained that such US administrative actions cannot change Russia’s strategy and its defense of vital national interests. However, according to the diplomat, the sanctions could affect the commercial reputation of the United States in the eyes of the world community.

“Washington’s convulsive attempts to ‘punish’ Russia only confirm the powerlessness of local authorities to force our country to abandon the protection of vital national interests,” he said.

Earlier, the United States announced new anti-Russian sanctions which affected many individuals and legal entities.

Antonov expressed his disagreement with the sanctions against the structures of Rosatom and Yunarmiya. He believes that such actions demonstrated Washington’s intention to nip in the bud Russian children’s love for their country. And the restrictions against the structures of “Rosatom” have become a violation of the principles of operation of energy markets.
