Actress opens up about her brutal childhood – ‘I wanted to scream and scream and tell them both to go to hell’

Actress and model Minka Kelly, who made the park famous on the shows Friday Night Lights, Titans and Almost Human, opens up in her biography Tell Me Everything, which will be released in May.

There she recounts her difficult past, but her father was not in her life until she was a teenager and her mother worked as a hanger, which made Minka’s life not like her peers. .

A guitarist and a fashionista have a baby

Minka’s mother, Maureen, who was still called Mo, was single. She had an affair with guitarist Rick Dufay, who once played with big band Aerosmoth.

Mo thought she was beautiful and had no trouble getting a job as a stripper. She repeatedly took Minka with her to work, and therefore spent a lot of time at the Crazy Girls strip club, where celebrities were happy to show off. Things didn’t improve when the mothers came home at the end of the working day, but they lived in a bad place, sometimes in storage rooms and even in the garages of well-meaning acquaintances.

Runs away and ends up in jail

In the book, Minka recalls that Mo once took advantage and traveled to the Philippines where she was going to take a temporary job as a stripper. She couldn’t take Minka with her, so she placed her with an acquaintance. Minka did not feel well there because the daughter of the acquaintance who had abused her lived there.

However, Minka’s mother did not return home after the project, as she had planned, but kept postponing the return trip. Minka writes about this:

“I found out later that at that time she had driven a car across the border for her boyfriend and thus smuggled drugs. She was put to work and had to sit inside for a while, but she never told me that.”

Said the violence was worse for him

However, after Mo served her sentence, she returned and picked up Minka and they moved to New Mexico to live with the boyfriend, David, whom Mo had been with in the Philippines.

Minka recalls her mother once complaining to David that Minka, then a teenager, had taken his car without permission. David responded angrily.

“He was hitting with the flat of his palm, then his fist, again and again. He found a cable on the ground and hit me with it while I was on my knees trying to protect myself as best I could. He grabbed my hair and dragged me around the room on my dick. I can’t remember how long the beating lasted. I had scratches all over my body when he finally got tired enough to stop.”

Then David asked Minka to hug him and informed her that it would have been much worse for him than for her.

“I wanted to scream and scream and tell them both to go to hell, but I knew it would only make things worse, so I held my breath.”

Boyfriend forced her to do porn

Minka reports that her mother simply disappeared when she was a teenager. Minka had no home to protect and moved in with her boyfriend at the time. Rudy and his family. No better life awaited him there than the one that had happened before.

Rudy treated Minka horribly. He demanded that she allow him to take raw photos of them having sex. He was going to have these photos printed, but the people at the store who took care of them refused. Cut material too coarsely.

Rudy then turned to video production and forced Minka to participate. She didn’t dare refuse because she didn’t want to be homeless.

“I was a master at leaving my body when things got uncomfortable.”

Rudy also wanted to make sure he didn’t pass anyone Minka belonged to. So she should get her name tattooed on her body. Minka complied, but took care to choose a place that was easy to cover. So she chose the bone of life. She says in the book that later she had to repeatedly explain to the men she slept with why that name was on her body and that it was shameful.

Rudy called her a bitch because of the way she dressed and once tried to force her to have sex with their mutual friend. Then Minka said no. Rudy took revenge and slept with the friend himself in front of Minka.

I didn’t want the child to have it

The day after this incident, Minka discovered that she was pregnant. It turns out that his mother suddenly reappeared there. Minka therefore asked her mother to accompany her to the doctor to see what options she had at the center. Her mother got excited and informed her that they could definitely raise the baby together. With these words, Minka realized that she could not offer such a thing to the child.

“Raising this child together?” How? With what money? In which house? With what insurance? I can’t imagine giving a child what my mother gave me. It was out of the question.”

She then understood what she had to do and then had an abortion to prevent an innocent child from suffering the same trauma as her.

Minka had had enough and decided to look for her father. She headed to Los Angeles where she got a job as a receptionist in a plastic surgeon’s office. She loved the work and considered working in health care as a career. However, she was fired shortly after refusing to accept payment in the form of breast augmentation.

Minka then decided to follow a training to be able to help the surgeons in their work. At the same time, she begins to work as a model, and one day she is offered to try her hand at television shows.

When her situation improved, she decided to reconcile with her mother. Her mother was then diagnosed with colon cancer and Minka moved her mother to Texas where she starred in the Friday Night Lights series and breastfed her mother until her death in 2008.

I wonder why she was born

In the book, she also gives an account of many failed romantic relationships. She’s had a long relationship with her Friday Night Lights co-star Taylor Kitsch, but she’s also dated stars like Chris Evans, Wilmer Valderrama, Josh Radnor, Trevor Noah, John Mayer, Jesse Williams and Dan. Reynolds.

She writes in the book she learned today that she needs to stop focusing on the flaws in her partner’s behavior and instead ask what she does to attract men who aren’t able to give her l love she left from her own trauma. history.

She says her past left a deep scar in her soul and she spent a lot of time wondering why her mother decided to have her, but she had already had three miscarriages.

“Sometimes I think a miscarriage would have been the best thing in the situation. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy to be alive and to have the opportunities that were given to me, but it saddens me. yet to see how unprepared and perhaps just plain unfit my mother was to be a mother.

There were times, if I’m being honest, where I was mad at her for having me. I didn’t ask for all this. I didn’t ask for these traumas and having to fight in the banks to get the psychotherapy that I had to endure because of all these injuries. I didn’t ask for these complicated relationships.”
