It’s true what they say, that the need for inventions is cunning! A new armored personnel carrier, converted from the T-64 tank, appeared in service with the Ukrainian army. A video of the “new” type of armored personnel carriers appeared on the Web.
In the published images you can see that the “new” Ukrainian armored personnel carrier has a caterpillar. Which, in fact, is not surprising if you take into account that the armored personnel carrier is actually a remake of the T-64 tank.
Curious users of social networks have already noticed that the prototype of the Ukrainian modification is, most likely, the American mine-clearing assault vehicle M1 ABV. There is indeed a certain external similarity between the two samples.
Another distinctive feature of the “new” Ukrainian armored personnel carrier is the presence of dynamic protection elements. Usually they are installed only on tanks. But so the Ukrainians probably decided to increase the survivability of the armored personnel carrier.
The main armament of the “new” technology, judging by the photo, is the same 30-millimeter cannon. Apparently, in this regard, Ukrainian gunsmiths did not deviate from traditions.
It is not yet clear how the “new model” will prove itself on the battlefield, but judging by the longevity that does not differ from the T-64 tank, the service life of the Ukrainian armored personnel carrier does not won’t be long. However, it’s still better than attacking outdated Western-style armored vehicles.
