QIIB launched its version of the Hemayan Card, the prepaid national debit card that was announced by the Qatar Central Bank some time ago, with the aim of strengthening the infrastructure for electronic payment services, financial inclusion and empowerment of customers, reducing costs for them, and promoting the transition to a cashless society.

The Himayan card from QIIB can be used within the State of Qatar for various transactions, whether through ATMs, points of sale, or e-commerce transactions.

The bank’s customers can request the issuance of the Himayan card through mobile banking, internet banking, or by visiting any of the QIIB branches. As for feeding the card with money, it takes place through digital channels or bank branches.

On the occasion of issuing the Hemayan card, Mr. Omar Abdulaziz Al-Meer, Head of Corporate Sector at QIIB, said: "We are pleased to announce the start of work with Hemayan cards from QIIB as part of the project announced by the Qatar Central Bank regarding the launch of a national prepaid payment card with a Qatari brand.".

added: "The initiative of the Qatar Central Bank to launch the Hemayan Card project deserves praise and appreciation for providing a realistic and appropriate alternative to various payment solutions, as it is compatible with the various banking systems and solutions in force in the State of Qatar, and is considered a qualitative addition to customers’ options in the field of bank cards and reducing cash payments.".

Al-Mir continued: "We have made all the necessary arrangements to launch the card, and customers can use it with the advantages it offers, including that it is compatible with contactless payment technology, does not require a minimum balance, and supports all types of transactions such as paying on points of sale and ATM machines and making local online purchases as well. All card transactions are exchanged locally through the National Network (NAPS".

He noted "That all QIIB customers, citizens and residents, are eligible to apply for a Hemayan card based on a valid Qatari identity card, which will be delivered to the customer via Qatar Post within several days of the request, and it can be easily activated via mobile and internet banking.".
