Nominations for the Executive Committee elections of the Qatar Football Association close tomorrow

– Published on:

Tomorrow, Monday, the door for candidacy for the elections of the Executive Committee of the Qatar Football Association, which will take place on the sidelines of the Ordinary General Assembly, which will be held on the first of next June, will be closed. The Qatar Football Association had announced earlier this month that the Executive Board, which will be elected on the sidelines of the Ordinary General Assembly that will be held next June, will manage the affairs of the game over the next four years, from 2023 to 2027.

The Electoral Committee of the Qatar Football Association is chaired by Mr. Abdullah Hamed, and it is concerned with receiving applications for candidacy for the position of President of the Federation and members of the Executive Committee (with a chairman + 4 members) after the formation of the Executive Committee of the Federation was amended by reducing the number of its members to only five for the period from 2023 to 2027.

The members of the Federation’s General Assembly consist of 18 members (17 clubs + Qatar Stars League), where the Elections Committee sent three forms to the clubs, the first for the nomination form for the position of President of the Federation, the second for the nomination form for membership of the Executive Committee, and the third for identifying the two persons delegated by the club to attend General Assembly and vote in elections. After closing the candidacy door tomorrow, the Elections Committee, whose membership includes Dr. Ahmed Al-Emadi, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Mahmoud, Mr. Eid Al-Muraikhi and Mr. Muhammad Al-Marri, will examine the candidates’ papers and notify them of the examination result within three days after closing the candidacy door, provided that this takes place after Eid Al-Fitr. Because the time for closing the candidacy door coincided with the Eid holiday, while the committee set three days to receive appeals from those excluded in the event that the conditions (if any) were not met, and the appeals would be decided immediately after that. It is noteworthy that Article 35 of the Articles of Association of the Qatar Football Association specified the conditions for candidacy for membership in the Executive Committee of the Federation that he be a Qatari citizen and his age is not less than 21 years, and it is preferable that he be active in football and that he not have been previously convicted of a criminal offense, and that he be of good conduct and not to occupy an executive position or job in any club during his membership in the Executive Committee. It is worth noting that the General Assembly of the Federation approved, during its meeting held on March 27, to amend Paragraph 35 of the Articles of Association, which stipulates reducing the number of members of the Executive Committee from seven (chairman and six members) to five members (chairman and four members), provided that one of them is appointed as a deputy. to the President in accordance with the provisions of the Articles of Association.
