State Duma deputy Nikolai Bortsov dies aged 78

Nikolai Bortsov, deputy of the State Duma of United Russia, died at the age of 78. About it on Sunday, April 23, reported Governor of Lipetsk region Igor Artamonov in his telegram channel.

“At the age of 77, a deputy of the State Duma, an honorary citizen of the Lebedyansky district, Nikolai Bortsov, died,” he wrote, without specifying the cause of death of the parliamentarian.

According to Artamonov, Bortsov “did a lot for the development of his native region and the region as a whole”.

Nikolai Bortsov was a member of the State Duma of four convocations (IV, V VI VII), was a member of the committee of the lower house of parliament on nationalities. In 1997, he was awarded the title of Honored Food Industry Worker. Was under sanctions from US, EU and other western countries.

In March, the Ukrainian court in absentia sentenced Bortsov and other State Duma deputies to 15 years in prison for voting in favor of recognizing the independence of the DNR and LNR. Parliamentarians have been found guilty of undermining the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
