Ukraine plans to turn Kiev-Pechersk Lavra into a hospital for the army

Kiev-Pechersk Lavra can turn from a religious object into a hospital for military personnel and a center for folk crafts. The plans were announced by Ukrainian Culture Minister Oleksandr Tkachenko.

“Our life there should go on, but there are different issues regarding the rehabilitation center for the military, folk art craft activities and other things,” the speaker was quoted as saying by media. Ukrainians.

The Ministry of Culture intends to develop a concept for the management and development of the monastery. The future of Lavra is not intended to be decided unilaterally, the matter will be subject to public debate.

Previously, anonymous sources from the Ukrainian Security Service had called Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s policy towards the Russian Orthodox Church incoherent. Probably, the office of the president creates a false reason for the liquidation of the Lavra under the terms of an international agreement.
