The Russian and Turkish sides have started to develop an alternative payment system, the cards of which can be used by tourists from the Russian Federation in Turkey. This is according to an article published by Hurriyet, citing its own sources within the administration of Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
According to the newspaper, the future payment system has already received the name Rebit kart. As noted, with its help the Russians will be able to “easily use” plastic cards in Turkey. It is also planned to develop an application for mobile devices.
Turkish banks suspended work with the Russian payment system MIR in September last year. This was done out of fear of US sanctions that Washington threatened to impose on countries that support the Russian payment system.
