An IDF statement said: “In a joint operation by the army and the General Security Service (Shin Bet), Ahmed Abu Daqqa, deputy commander of the Islamic Jihad missile unit, who played a central role in firing rockets into Israel, has been eliminated.”
As Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said on Twitter: “In a joint operation by the Israeli army and the General Security Service, we eliminated Ahmed Abu Daqqa, who was responsible for the recent missile attacks on the State of Israel, a short time ago.”
The Jihad movement said an Israeli airstrike in the southern Gaza Strip on Thursday claimed the life of Abu Daqqa, a leader of the movement.
The Palestinian Health Ministry also said 4 people were injured in the strike near Khan Yunis.
