The Austrian national team goalkeeper has been diagnosed with cancer

The 32-year-old goalkeeper, who plays for Sion in the Swiss league, said he would take a break from football.

“Unfortunately, I want to inform you that this season is over for me in Sion and in the national team.

Reuters quoted Lindner as saying: “I developed a tumor in my left testicle. You know how painful it is to squeeze me after this diagnosis. I had surgery a few days ago and it went away. went very well.”

He explained that the doctors had discovered the case in its early stages and that the following expectations were positive.

“I can’t wait to come back fully fit and ready to play again next season,” he added.

Lindner was Austrian coach Ralf Rangnick’s first choice but will now miss the next two European Championship qualifiers against Belgium on June 17 and Sweden on June 20.
