Chairman of the Association of Shipowners of the Fishing Fleet (ASRF; unites the structures of the Russian Fishery Company, Russian Crab, Norebo and For Group) Alexei Osintsev has warned of a possible increase in the price of fish in Russia in due to changes in the customs code, writes Vedomosti.
According to him, thanks to the innovations, fish harvested in the areas of international treaties and exclusive economic zones will not be recognized as a product by the Eurasian Economic Union, and therefore a 5% import duty and 10% VAT will be charged for it.
Fishermen’s costs will affect the cost of fish in the domestic market of Russia, which will lead to a decrease in its competitiveness.
