Hiroshima. Japan announced on Saturday that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky would travel to Hiroshima to attend a session of the G7 summit on the eastern European country facing Russian aggression.
Zelensky is expected to reach Hiroshima, the Japanese city that suffered the world’s first atomic attack, by Saturday afternoon. He will discuss with the leaders of the G-7 countries in the session held on Ukraine. Japan’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement saying that Zelensky was supposed to participate in the online session earlier on Friday, but he did not attend the conference in person. expressed a ‘strong desire’ to join, after which the plan changed.
Japan had earlier refused to confirm Zelensky’s visit and insisted late on Friday that he would attend the session only through online means. During the visit to Hiroshima, the foreign ministry statement said. Zelensky will also hold talks with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.
