2023 World Transport General Assembly will be held in Wuhan

The year 2023 World Transport General Assembly will be inaugurated on June 14 in Wuhan city of central China, which will last for four days. The main theme of this year’s general assembly is to create, low carbon, smart, sharing and more sustainable transport. More than 3000 delegates from more than 30 countries will participate in this grand event of the transport world. This general assembly is organized by the Chinese Science and Technology Association, Chinese It is being jointly organized by the Ministry of Transport, the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the Hupei Provincial Government.

Xu Hongquan, deputy head of the creation department of the Chinese Science and Technology Association, told a news briefing recently that the current year’s World Transport Assembly will have six main activities, including the opening ceremony, the net reporting meeting, and the Belt and Road Initiative. International traffic symposium, sub-forum, traffic science and technology fair, university student competition on bridge design and inauguration of new technologies will be included.

Xu Hongquan pointed out that the year 2023 has four major features of the World Transport Assembly. First, this General Assembly will deliberate on various transport goals in the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda, combining academic study and practical application of techniques, to promote global sustainable transport development. China’s wisdom and Chinese planning should be provided. Second, concrete cooperation between Belt and Road countries and regions in transportation development will be enhanced, such as docking international standards of traffic infrastructure, simplification of international traffic, handling emergency public crisis and etc. Third, this General Assembly will pay more attention to more sustainability, low carbon and smart traffic. In this, the direction of future important scientific and technological development in the traffic sector and the big strategic demand will be deeply discussed. Will be organized. Fourth, help will be given for the quality development of the traffic of the host province and city.

Wang Taifang, deputy secretary-general of the China Association of Highways and Transportation, told a news briefing that during this year’s World Congress of Transport, there will be about 230 sub-forums, in which more than 1700 study reports will be presented. Some hundred famous international experts will share their views.

On the other hand, the latest achievements in China’s green traffic will also be highlighted in this general assembly. According to statistics, now the number of new energy vehicles in China has crossed 15 million, which is the largest new energy vehicle market in the world. The special thing is that there is a very rapid development of new energy vehicles in China. It is estimated that in the year 2026, the number of new energy vehicles in China will be more than 100 million. The electrification rate has increased from 52.3 percent in the year 2012 to 73.8 percent.
