Netherlands beat Nepal by 7 wickets

New Delhi. In the 14th match of the World Cup qualifiers 2023, the Netherlands cricket team defeated the Nepal cricket team by 7 wickets on Saturday. This is the second win for the Netherlands team in three matches. On the other hand, this is Nepal’s third defeat in four matches. The hero of the Netherlands’ victory was fast bowler Logan van Beek, who took 4 wickets while bowling brilliantly.

Batting first after losing the toss, the Nepal team scored only 167 runs losing all 10 wickets in 44.3 overs. Captain Rohit Podel (33) scored the most runs from the team. The Netherlands team, which took the field with a target of 168 runs, won easily by losing 3 wickets in 27.1 overs. Max O’Dowd top-scored for the Netherlands with 90 runs. Sandeep Lamichhane took maximum 2 wickets from Nepal side.

The Netherlands team played attacking cricket, batting very seriously even to chase down a small target. Openers Max Odode and Vikramjit Singh got the team off to a flying start, adding runs at a brisk pace. Both added 86 runs in 78 balls for the first wicket. Meanwhile, Vikramjit got out in an attempt to score a quick run. He scored 30 runs in 43 balls with the help of 3 fours and 1 six.

Odaud played the best innings of his ODI career in this match. However, he missed his maiden ODI hundred by only 10 runs. He scored a brilliant 90 off 75 balls in the innings, batting at a strike rate of 120.00. In this innings, he also scored 8 fours and 4 sixes.

In this match, Nepal’s batsmen were seen struggling continuously to score runs. The first wicket of the team fell on the score of 7 only. By the time it reached 91 runs, half the team had returned. The biggest partnership for the team was between Kushal Bhurtel (27) and Bhim Sharkey (22) for the second wicket. Both added 39 runs in 75 balls. Sandeep Lamichhane struggled a bit in the lower order scoring 27 runs.

For the Netherlands, bowler Beek made an impact in the match by bowling brilliantly. Throwing 9.3 overs in the match, he gave only 24 runs with an economy of 2.50 and showed the way to the pavilion to 4 batsmen. This was the best bowling performance of his ODI career. Earlier, he had taken 4 wickets for 56 runs.

Bec has so far taken 27 wickets in 20 ODIs at an average of 32.93 and an economy of 5.32.
