Netherlands beat West Indies in Super Over

New Delhi. In the 18th match of the World Cup Qualifiers 2023, the Netherlands cricket team has defeated the West Indies cricket team in a super over. This is West Indies’ second defeat in this tournament. In the match, Netherlands won the toss and decided to bowl first. West Indies scored 374 runs losing 6 wickets in 50 overs. Netherlands batted brilliantly and scored 374 runs in 50 overs.

The West Indies team had made a great start in the match. Only 3 wickets of the team had fallen till 163 runs. After this, Nicholas Pooran (104), who came to bat at number-5, overturned the entire match. He put a lot of class on the bowlers of Netherlands. Braden King (76) and Johnson Charles (54) scored runs. None of the Netherlands bowlers could perform well in the match. Netherlands batsmen Teja Nidamanuru (111) and Scott Edwards (67) played brilliant innings.

Jason Holder came to bowl for the West Indies in the Super Over and gave away 30 runs. In reply, the West Indies team was able to score only 8 runs in 5 balls and 2 batsmen were dismissed and easily won the Netherlands.

Logan van Beek scored 30 runs in the super over against Holder. With this, an embarrassing record was added to his name. He has become the first bowler in the history of ODI cricket to give 30 or more runs twice. Earlier in the year 2015, AB de Villiers had scored 30 runs against him. He has also become the first bowler to give away 30 or more runs in any Super Over match.

Puran faced 65 balls and scored 104 runs. He hit 9 fours and 6 sixes. His strike rate was 160.00. This was the third century of his ODI career. Earlier, he had scored 115 runs against Nepal. Pooran brought up his century off just 63 balls, the third fastest by any West Indies batsman in ODIs. Brian Lara (45 balls) and Chris Gayle (55 balls) are ahead of them.

King faced 81 balls and scored 76 runs with the help of 13 fours. During this, his strike rate was 93.83. He has played 4 ODIs against Netherlands and scored 3 fifties. He has batted at an average of 117.50 and scored 235 runs. Charles played an inning of 54 runs in 55 balls. During this he hit 9 fours and 1 six. This is the 7th half-century of his ODI career.

Nidamanuru came to bat with 4 wickets down. He then shared a 143-run partnership in 90 balls with Scott Edwards. Nidamanuru scored the second century of his ODI career in just 68 balls. He got out after scoring 111 runs in 76 balls. During this, he hit 11 fours and 3 brilliant sixes. His strike rate was 146.05. Edwards faced 47 balls and scored 67 runs. He scored his 12th half-century in ODIs.
