Sri Lanka beat Scotland by 82 runs

New Delhi. In the 19th match of the World Cup Qualifiers 2023, the Sri Lanka cricket team defeated the Scotland cricket team by 82 runs. Scotland won the toss and decided to bowl first. His decision proved correct and Sri Lanka could score only 245 runs in 49.3 overs. However, when Scotland came out to bat, barring Chris Greaves (56), no other big innings could be played.

Sri Lanka’s start was nothing special. By 43 runs, 2 batsmen had returned to the pavilion. After this, Pathum Nissanka played a brilliant inning of 75 runs. Charith Aslanka scored 63 runs in the match. Apart from these two, no batsman could play a big innings. Mark Watt took 3 wickets and Greaves took 4 wickets. The rest of the Sri Lankan bowlers, including Mahesh Tikshna, were brilliant and the entire Scotland team was all out for 163 runs.

Nissanka completed his 9th half-century of his ODI career in 50 balls for Sri Lanka. He scored 75 runs in 85 balls with the help of 10 fours. During this his strike rate was 88.24. Nissanka completed his 1,000 runs during his 30th innings of ODI career.

Aslanka batted brilliantly in the match for Sri Lanka and completed his 8th half-century of ODI career in 47 balls. He scored 63 runs in 65 balls, which included 4 fours and 2 sixes. With this, he has also completed his 1,000 runs in ODI cricket.

Sri Lankan bowlers performed brilliantly in the match. He did not allow any Scottish batsman to stay on the pitch. Tikshna bowled brilliantly, taking 3 wickets for 41 runs in 10 overs. Vanindu Hasaranga continued his fine form and took 2/42 in 6 overs. Other bowlers also supported these two players a lot. Kasun Rajitha, Dasun Shanaka and Lahiru Kumara got 1-1 wickets.

Greaves, who scored a brilliant half-century with the bat for Scotland, also did well in bowling. He took 4 wickets for 32 runs in 6.3 overs. He was playing the 19th match for Scotland and now he has 15 wickets. In batting, he scored the second half-century of his ODI career. During his innings of 56 runs, he hit 7 fours and 2 sixes. His strike rate was 136.59.
