NYT Spelling Bee Hints – July 29, 2026
Here are three hints for today’s Spelling Bee before the full answers:
Hint 1: Both pangrams connect to water. One is a type of motor mounting found on the back of a boat. The other is a Spanish-origin word for a medieval traveling musician or lyric poet.
Hint 2: Today’s grid rewards players who think in double letters. Look for words with double B, double O, and double R – there are several.
Hint 3: Among the six-letter words, one is a freshwater fish related to the cod, and another is a sleeveless tunic worn over armor in medieval Europe.
NYT Spelling Bee Pangrams – July 29, 2026
Today’s Spelling Bee has two pangrams. OUTBOARD (8 letters) refers to a motor mounted on the outside of a boat’s transom. TROUBADOUR (10 letters), from Old Occitan via Old French, describes a medieval lyric poet or wandering musician – and it uses all seven of today’s letters. Both pangrams are worth hunting first: cracking one often opens the rest of the grid.
Note that DARTBOARD (9 letters) is a valid word in today’s puzzle but is not a pangram. It uses only B, A, D, R, T, and O, skipping the required U.
