Deputy of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Sergey Obukhov sent a request to the Prosecutor General’s Office, Rospotrebnadzor and the Ministry of Labor due to the actions of the management of the wild berry market. The parliamentary request, which is available to RTVI, indicates that the company regularly violates labor laws, the Civil Code and the Constitution.

The situation, according to Obukhov, may “create risks of social tension due to the mass layoffs of workers in the industry”. In addition, the MP asks the Department of Labor to check Wildberries for the existence of employment relationships between employees and the company.

Previously, the Attorney General’s Office had already launched its own control. The issue has also caught the attention of MPs, who will soon begin drafting a bill to regulate the industry.

On March 14 and 15, some employees at Wildberries distribution outlets went on strike to protest the new fines system. Under the new terms, contractors are responsible for the full cost of goods that buyers return to the warehouse due to marriage or substitution.

The Wildberries news service explained the innovation as “additional protection for our sellers against substitution” of goods.

The situation attracted the attention of the Ministry of Labor, Rostrud, the State Duma and the Ministry of Industry and Trade. On March 17, Wildberries and public body Opora Rossii announced the creation of a special commission to resolve issues between marketplaces and partners.
