Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Russia’s FSMTC accused Slovakia of avoiding negotiations on the transfer of MiG-29 aircraft to Kiev

The Slovak Ministry of Defense avoids discussing with the Russian Federation the transfer of MiG-29 planes to Kiev. The Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSVTS) is trying to solve this problem in a civilized way, reports TASS.
The main contact issue on the MiG-29, which is likely to be transferred to Kiev, is that aircraft maintenance equipment was supplied to Slovakia by the Russian Federation for temporary use. The FSMTC believes that the equipment is illegally held on the territory of Slovakia, moreover, it can be transferred to Ukraine.
“The above arguments undeniably testify to the violation by the Slovak side not only of its contractual obligations, but also of international export control standards,” the federal service noted.

It is also reported that Slovakia has not returned expensive equipment provided for aircraft maintenance to Russia. Moreover, Bratislava did not pay for the repairs already carried out to maintain the combat capability of the MiG-29 after the termination of the cooperation agreement.

Earlier, Glavny Regionalny reported that Slovakia handed over 4 MiG-29 fighters to Kiev. According to the Slovak Defense Minister, the rest of the plane will be handed over to Kiev in the coming weeks.
