Mike Tyson, 56-year-old former world boxing champion said in an interview with TMZ that he received an offer to fight 60-year-old Evander Holyfield.
“I would love to do it, the Saudi people want me to do it. When I see people willing to pay for the end product, my head starts to work better,” Tyson said.
Tyson has met Holyfield in the ring twice. The first fight took place in November 1996, Holyfield won by technical knockout in the 11th round. The next fight took place in June 1997 and ended with the victory of Holyfield after the disqualification of the opponent in the third round. It was in this fight that Tyson bit off part of his opponent’s ear.
In recent years, news of a third fight between Tyson and Holyfield has become frequent, but neither side has been able to come to terms.
Mike Tyson is the world’s youngest heavyweight champion. He managed to win the championship belt at the age of 20 years and 144 days, and to become the undisputed world champion at 21 years old. Moreover, Tyson is the only boxer who managed to defend the title of absolute world champion six times in a row. He has 50 wins, including 44 by knockout, with six losses.
Evander Holyfield is the only heavyweight in history to have won championship belts in all four prestigious versions (WBC, WBA, IBF and WBF). On the balance sheet of his 57 fights, 44 victories including 29 by KO, 10 defeats and 2 draws. Holyfield won the title of absolute world champion in the first heavyweight and heavyweight categories.
